If you walk into a darkened room, where a projector lights up a screen and presents an image, that image is the centre of attention. If you go further and hold a sheet of paper in front of the projector that is transporting the image, you are interrupting the transport and catching the projected image on paper. The projected image is based on light and becomes visible only when it strikes a material such as a screen or a sheet of paper. What are the characteristics of the projected image, and what kind of materiality does this light-based image have? This thesis project is an investigation into the immaterial state of the projected image and a critical analysis on the digital projector as an everyday medium. Different visual experiments within the space of the projection ask for an unusual and active perception of the projected image.
