An Investigation into Visualisations of Body Sensations

Through life, people evolve and learn to use their body and its functions in a sequence of different stages, from age zero on. Early in life, once the body’s abilities are established, the gaze is directed outwards instead of inwards, and our focus shifts to the world around us. With the wish of going through life with a healthy mind and body, young already, I started a journey towards myself. I believe that self-knowledge and learning to understand our bodies helps along the way. Thinking the idea of the gaze shifting directions in the course of life to be interesting, I thus initiated the process of my thesis, in directing my gaze back inwards to focus on my body sensations. I investigated a way to communicate visually what my skin and body experience inside when my hand acts on them, thus finding a visual solution to make visible something that is inherently invisible.
